Standard

Example of Standard in Action

Instructor is using Cengage Learning Education materials. The instructor and institution have confirmed that materials used by the instructor are accessible by students with disabilities. Instructor also offers to provide any student with alternative formats in case they are not able to access any course materials while using Cengage Learning Education resources.

Example of Issue

An instructor is using the online web application MindTap™, available from Cengage. This product includes a learning management system with customizable courses and a reader application. Some of their homework assignments include flash videos.  Flash videos nearly always introduce some sort of accessibility issue since the technology allows the video to be displayed on multiple platforms each of which have their own accessibility requirements.  There may be other accessibility issues with this product.

Locating the Issue in Your Course

You will want to look through your course for each instance where a student is asked to use the MindTap™ application and provide an accessible alternative.
