Instructional Design Support

What to Expect

Just like the support service we offer our students, we have experienced staff to support you in aligning your course with the OEI Course Design Rubric. @ONE has created the Instructional Design Support Center to provide comprehensive support to those participating in the OEI project.

The Support Center is constantly growing in response to the evolving needs of the OEI project. Currently, the Support Center is developing the following offerings for participating faculty:

  • One-on-One Support:  Receive assistance from an experienced instructional designer (ID) in determining how to make course modifications to align a course to the OEI Course Design Rubric. Sign up for a time slot that works best for you, and receive a combined total of 2 hours, dedicated with one of our experienced staff.  Read more below.
  • Online Knowledge Bank: 24/7 resource to support you in understanding the OEI Course Design Rubric. Videos, tutorials, and quick tips on how to incorporate the feedback received during the review process. (expected for Fall 2015)
  • Online Community: A vibrant online space where participating faculty can connect and share ideas with other faculty who are in the same process. Ask questions and receive support from our Instructional Designers (IDs) who will have an active presence in the space. (expected for Fall 2015)

One-on-One Support

The heart of the @ONE service is the one-on-one support. Read more below on what you can expect from this service:

  • ID Consult – Initial Meeting: You and the ID will meet online for 1.25 hours to dive deep into your course. The ID will partner with you to help provide clarity around any areas covered in the rubric, as well as to design an actionable plan on how to modify your course to align with the OEI Course Design Rubric.
  • Faculty Implements Actions identified: You will determine how long you would like to have to incorporate actions identified in your initial meeting with your ID support person. You will use this time to implement the changes discussed, as well as queue up any items you would like to discuss further with your ID.
  • ID Consult – Follow up Meeting: You will have the opportunity to meet with your ID online for in this final session, for 45 minutes. The ID will address any new questions that arose during your implementation time, and/or review any areas of the rubric or course that you may still feel unclear about.
  • Faculty Implements Actions identified: You will again have a period of time to implement the changes identified. Once you have implemented the action created by you and your ID, you will follow the process for re-submitting your course to OEI.
    • More information will be provided on how to resubmit your course during your second meeting with your ID.

How to Prepare

To make to very most of your one-on-one session, please consider the following recommendations:

  • Review your rubric feedback in detail.
  • Address any feedback that you are able to resolve on your own.
  • Highlight the areas which you would like to focus on in your one-on-one session.
  • Develop a list of specific questions you have regarding the rubric, the feedback provided, and/or how to align your course with the rubric.
